What is the 5G network?
5G refers to the fifth generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology. This supplements the existing 4G/LTE networks and replaces older networks like 3G as the demand increases for faster data speeds.

What phones are eligible to get 5G?
Because 5G is such a new technology, not all phones are built with the proper antennae/equipment to see and utilize 5G networks. For a full list of phones that are compatible with 5G, click here. If your current phone is not compatible with 5G, we make it easy to chang to a compatible phone to take advantage of United’s super-fast 5G data speeds!
Can I update my phone's software to get 5G on my phone?
Luckily, many phone models simply need an easy software update to use the 5G data network. If you have a compatible phone, follow the instructions below for updating your compatible iPhone or Android smartphone to take advantage of United’s super-fast 5G network!

The steps you need to follow will vary depending on the software version your Android smartphone is currently on.
Go to Settings > Software Update, and follow the instructions. When your phone restarts after the update, please follow these instructions again until your phone tells you there are no more updates available (you may have to install a couple of software updates to get to the latest version).
